Employee of the Month - Dr. Hector Colon |
 |
written by Hector Colon, M.D.
I joined The Adler Center for Women's Health in July 2002. Working here
has been a great experience in both the personal and professional
aspects of my life. I enjoy working with Dr. Adler, the midwives and
the rest of the staff - we really work well together to provide the
best health care to women of all ages, teen years to menopause. I
earned my Medical Degree at the Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce,
Puerto Rico and completed my residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at
Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I'm
originally from Puerto Rico and I speak both Spanish and English
fluently, which has given me the opportunity to provide quality care to
our Hispanic patients in their own language.
As a women's health care provider, I have the opportunity to
prevent diseases and promote women's health. I always encourage my
gynecological patients to have annual exams, perform a self-breast exam
each month, and to keep their appointments for mammograms. It is
important to know that most deaths among women before age 65 are
preventable and screening plays an important role in preventing such
deaths. I encourage my obstetrical patients to make regular follow-up
appointments which helps me to monitor their baby and at the same time
answer all questions and concerns about their pregnancy. My focus is to
provide good care to my patients, and at the same time provide them
with education and information so they can prevent health problems from
occurring.
I consider pregnancy as a miracle of life. In 2000, I
delivered my youngest son and it was the most wonderful feeling and
experience in my life. At that moment I learned to value even more than
I did before how important life is. When I'm not working, I love to
spend time with my wife and kids and take some time to read and enjoy
my favorite hobby - bicycle riding.

The Babies The Adler Center Delivers are COOL!! |
 |
written by Renee Edwards
When my husband and I found out we were pregnant with our second child
we were so incredibly excited. Our daughter Montana was going to be a
big sister and our family was going to grow in love.
Having known Dr. Adler socially, we decided to switch to the
Adler Center practice in hopes of having a more pleasant birthing
experience this time around. Unfortunately, shortly into the pregnancy
we suffered a miscarriage. We quickly became pregnant again and the
outcome was the same. We were devastated. However, with encouragement
and support from Dr. Adler and midwife Rita-Marie, we tried again. The
result was a beautiful baby girl.

We Value Your Opinion! |
 |
We've launched our first E-Newsletter and hosted our first Women's
Health Seminar in May. Both the E- Newsletter and the Women's Health
Seminar were well received by our readers. This month's E-Newsletter
presented our first E-Video. In order to continue to provide you with
the information you are interested in, we would like to ask your
opinion on the following:
- What did you think of our first E- Newsletter?
- Was our E-Video informative?
- What topics would you like to read about in future
E-Newsletters?
- What types of Women's Health Seminars would you be interested
in attending?
We value your opinion and ask that you provide us with your
suggestions. The Adler Center's goal is to stimulate your interest and
heighten your awareness of all the current and future innovative
services offered. In addition to covering clinically and medically
relevant topics, we would like to keep you abreast of any changes made
in our practice, such as the addition of new providers and staff,
changes in policies, the availability of evening hours, and many other
exciting services. With each additional E-Newsletter, we will make
every effort to address all of your responses. Thank you for your
interest!
